At the start of the process of selecting a song myself and my work partner (Daniel Bunn) decided to list a selection of songs of which we think would be a good song choice for our music video.
Overall we had a list of 6 songs between us to narrow down to one song. we decided to scrap songs based on things like what ideas we could think of with a certain song or lack of ideas, how many people we think we would need as we didn't want to rely on a bunch of people at once.
In The End myself and Daniel Bunn narrowed the 6 song down to 2 songs. Firstly We had Nickelback's "Photograph" released in 2005, and Secondly You Me At Six and "Room To Breathe".
With "Room To Breathe" myself and Daniel really both enjoyed the song personally, and we had some ideas in what we may do if we chose to do this song and what concepts we would put into the video.
With "Photograph" We both (myself and Daniel) straight away were throwing out possible ideas to each other based on the song and certain lyrics and meanings in the song, mostly with lyrics such as "Criminal record" and the idea of a love type scene with the idea of love being mentioned in the song. We also thought that adding in a performance we wouldn't need to have to many people to rely on to help. In the end due to having more benefits to us in terms of ideas and the people needed we decided to choose this song.

Initial Ideas:
Below are some of the ideas that we came up with during the early stages:
For
the performance we have had a few ideas on how to film and perform the song.
Firstly
with the forest setting we took some ideas and inspiration from paramore’s
decode video which has a performance taking place in a forest which we keen to
do our own version similar to it for our video.
Another
idea we had was to perform with different members of a band performing on their
own in different areas similar to parts to paramore’s
decode, and also with The Marmozets video for Born Young and Free.
which takes on this concept.
For the narrative of our video we discussed some different ideas that we can do within reason that is linked to the song,
Firstly we had some general ideas for the narrative which included some kind of incorporation of memories or flashbacks of the protagonists past. And Also as the song title says some use of photographs in the song would be key.
We then tried to think of some more specific details that can be in our music video. Ideas that we had were some sought of forest setting, and our protagonist is found disillusioned not knowing what happened, then using the aspect of photographs he begins to find out what he has done and what may of happened. these photo's we have planned to be linked to lyrics in the song, for example some kind of theft/stealing scenario linked to the lyrics "Criminal Record says I broke it twice", and maybe also thinking of some kind of love affair linked to the lyrics "Kim's the first girl I kissed". The idea of these is that someone is angry at the protagonist and has attacked him and left him in the forest. at the end of the video we have come up with the idea of revealing who has done it linking it to one of our narrative scenes allowing the viewers to try and figure out "who dun-nit".
